HI-FI is a solo performance by Damir Klemenic, fairly young but already experienced performer of Croatian origin. This piece is his tribute to a lifelong passion: music.
His 1st public creation is inspired with bestseller 'HI-FI', the 1st novel of extremely popular British writer Nick Hornby, A maestro of male confessional. The work bridges the gap between performance art and phenomena such as pop music, entertainment, and DJ culture.
How does a person from the East of Europe hear Western songs about broken hearts?
By way of disclosing diverse personal top-lists, the artist questions the relation of his identity and maturity, of the music that he listens to and his life projections and finally of his 'performance-self' and his 'self-image'.
The performance itself is communicated within the mode of DJ session. It is a live music/performance act that fuses Hornby's text, autobiographical elements together with movement sections and live created sounds. As a result, this solo blurs the boundaries between performance art and music concert.
