Project 'BROWSER' is conceived as a time-space installation with 1 male performer. It can be realized both, in regular exhibition space, or in site-specific conditions.
The still-life installation consists of 300 identical books. The size of a book is 33x25x5 cm. Each book is covered with black leather and consists of 300 unwritten white pages. The books are placed besides each other into 20 vertical and 15 horizontal rows. These books form a rectangular object of 500x495x5 cm.
Duration of the entire act is 3 days, 7h per day.
During the 1st day, the performer simply resides on the object of closed books placed on black surface. During the 2nd day, the performer browses through all the books. He searches, page by page, inside each book for the existence of potential traces, signs, letters, etc. The already 'browsed' books stay opened, while the process gradually transforms the surface of the installation. During the 3rd day, the performer undresses. In strictly defined intervals he uses his clothes to perform the symbolic movement of 'Wind' above the pages of the opened books. The entire act is accompanied with sound-loops of originally composed drum & bass music followed by intervals of silence. An additional video camera is placed vertically above the center of the still-life installation, so the act is transmitted onto the monitors placed in the entire exhibition area. The total duration of the process of time-space installation/performance is transmitted live by video image on the Web-site created especially for this event.
